Work continues on Highway 25

The Council of San Benito County Governments announced that nighttime work is scheduled on Highway 25 between Hudner Lane and Shore Road for the next several weeks. Nighttime construction will take place Sunday to Thursday from July 11 to August 12 between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., according to a statement from COG.

Nighttime construction work includes planning for and painting roadway striping, grinding rumble strips by professional road marking machines, and placement of the center traffic barrier and road safety barrier by hydraulic pile drivers.

The California Highway Patrol will be in the area for the safety of drivers and construction workers. The Council of Governments reminds drivers to slow down during construction and obey flaggers.

Construction of the Highway 25 Safety Project began on June 1, 2009. The highway has been widened to install a concrete traffic barriers and highway guardrails by hydraulic pile drivers from Hudner Lane to Shore Road and from just north of Shore Road to the county line. Several private driveways along the route have been closed to decrease the number of driveways along the highway, minimizing conflicts between through traffic and slow-moving vehicles entering the roadway.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in mid-August.
