LUDHIANA: The municipal corporation seems to have finally realized the importance of road markings for traffic safety. It has got down to work of painting the roads with these crucial signs in various localities before foggy weather sets in.

The exercise has been started from Sarabha Nagar and other posh localities of the city. Officials have directed all the XENs of roads and bridges department for putting the marks in their respective areas.

In the next few days, the exercise will begin in Hambran Road and Haibowal Road as well. Main chowks of the city have already been covered as part of this.

One of the MC officials stated that it was difficult to put the markings during summer because the bitumen melted owing to hot weather and made the task impossible. This season is the most suitable for this work, he added.

XEN Brijpal Singhsaid that they had been given the directions to put the markings on the roads and so the exercise had been started. Within a few days, we will cover the entire city.
